Chievo vs History
By: Mostafa | September 20th, 2009
UNREAL SCORE!!!!
First 6 Minutes into the game
CHIEVO 2 Genoa 0 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now why did i call genoa history????

Genoa, the only European city to be mentioned in the old Arabian Nights stories is a fabulous surprise for travellers who know all about the wonders of Rome, Venice, Pisa, and Florence but were not aware that Genoa was Europe’s Capital of Culture in 2004 and imagine that Italy’s largest Mediterranean port is an industrial wasteland.
ok i’ve lost it.

Genoa’s Appeal Against Domenico Criscito’s Red Card Rejected
Yippee. No match for him today.
Oh BTW: We can’t get harder games even if we tried, bologna was a relif game, look at our form
Form:
September 13 v Bologna (A) – WON 2-0 (Serie A)
August 30 v Lazio (H) – LOST 2-1 (Serie A)
August 23 v Juventus (A) – LOST 1-0 (Serie A)
Genoa Form:
September 17 v Slavia Prague (H) – WON 2-0 (Europa League)
September 13 v Napoli (H) – WON 4-1 (Serie A)
August 30 v Atalanta (A) – WON 1-0 (Serie A)
August 27 v Odense (A) – DREW 1-1 (Europa League)
August 23 v Roma (H) – WON 3-2 (Serie A)
I mean come on Genoa had much easier games, look at who they were playing, Roma/Atalanta/Donapoli. at least 2 of these teams are relegation contenders Right?.
While we had Juve/Lazio/Bologna, At least 2 of these teams are Top 4 material Right?.
Unimportant news & Probable formations:
- Sergio might be out
- Moro might not play
- Sorrentino; Frey, Morero, Yepes, Mantovani; Luciano, Rigoni, Pinzi, Marcolini; Granoche, Bogdani.
- Crespo’s dive on the bench (and still get calls)
- Amelia; Papastathopoulos, Biava, Moretti; Rossi, Kharja, Zapater, Mesto; Palacio, Floccari, Sculli.
- I am bored
Poll:
Ok thats it see you gameside, and if there is a live blog i’ll tell you. Stay tuned in for mor……….

We rocked!! Good ol’ Ceo! I knew we were better than the Juve and Lazio games showed. Judging by Siena’s 4-1 defeat today, Chievo, who usually plays better away, can get a victory.
Today I was happy about Bogdani, who I usually dislike because he’s slow, lazy and generally not a good player. He got the penalty (lame one, admittedly) and scored a goal (an easy tap-in) but it’s better than he usually does.

Eh, let’s ease up a touch on Bogdani’s track record. His entry into the Lazio match last year was a turning point in the season. He might not score often, but he works very hard, plays the post-up game quite well and creates space up front for Pellissier (space that never existed when he was paired with Esposito or Makinwa last year). With Chievo, he’s a consummate team player.
The PK he earned today was no more generous than the one Rossi earned in 2nd half stoppages. And his goal may have been a tap-in, but it was a classic job of smartly closing down an offensive surge at the far post (and profitting from an awful defensive error by Genoa… whether you’re impressed by it or not, a good team has to make them pay for that, and we did!)
I’d urge you to also take a look at Sergio’s goal last week against Bologna… the delicate touch Erjon takes off Mantovani’s sombrero is what created the space for Andrea’s fantastic assist. He’s playing beautifully right now, has been valuable to us for months, and more than deserved to get on the scoresheet today.

Joe, your points on Bogdani are well-taken. But forwards in my book are hired to score goals. “working hard” is a relative concept and sometimes bogdani does, and many times he doesn’t. In the last three years he’s been inconsistent, he’s usually slow, he’s often on the ground — but most importantly, in the last 3 years he has almost never scored more than 3-5 goals a year. That is a sub-standard statistic for a forward, no matter how “hard” he works. I’m sorry to continue busting on him…but two years ago he was even benched at Livorno. Please. He reminds me of Cossato’s last 2-3 years, slow, always faking fouls, and never scoring. But some fans liked him, too, probably because he’s from Verona and “worked hard” to create space up front. I’ll take Obinna back any day.

Fair enough… and he certainly makes enough money that he should be finding the back of the net more often. No argument there.
Let’s hope he keeps up the form from these first few games this season (particularly the last two). He’s been a good cog in a very exciting machine! Forza Ceo!

This year’s Chievo is a very exciting machine, indeed!! I fully hope and expect to be in the upper half of the standings and fighting for a spot in the Euro cup, or whatever it’s called now. But I’m usually pretty crap at predicting, so I’ll stop.
You’ll be pleased to know (as am I) that Erjon was given some very good marks in the Italian sport dailies. From 6.5s and 7s to an incredible 8 on the Verona local tv websitePosted from

Well, we’ve gotta take care of the “abbordabili” (boardable) games to make a run at top-half… hoping for more of the same tonight at Siena against the worst defense in Serie A!
I predict 4-1 to Chievo: Pellissier, Luciano and Pellissier again in the first half… Mantovani conceding a soft penalty in the second half (because that’s what we do), with Granoche closing out the scoreline soon thereafter.

My predictions are often wrong, too! the only games I didn’t predict, we ended up winning, so now I avoid predictions altogether.
