First of all, it’s clear that from the start of this camaign our objective is to avoid relegation yet again, hasn’t it always? and yet you can’t stop feeling that these first two matches weren’t a real measure of our abilities, looking back at these two matches i’m just glad they didn’t end up to be blowouts.

And you couldn’t possibly hope to beat juve with all their might, and after a succesfull summer. Yet we preformed, we tried and we hit the post not once not twice, but three times and even tough we were sometimes lucky at back we still conceded and lost by only one goal, a match which Juve fans must have seen as a fun match to watch, turned out to be a heartstopping thriller. (I got caught up didn’t i )

“Napoli’s interest [in Pellissier] is real,” agent Oscar Damiani told TuttoNapoli.net.

“I’ve had contact with the club in recent weeks. They know we are ready to open talks over a potential transfer, but before that can happen, the clubs need to reach an agreement.”

The striker was also questioned on his future after yesterday’s match and he admitted to being tempted by a move to the Vesuviani.

Therefore, Chievo stepped in and registered the former Brazil Under-20 star as one of their men, a ploy that Inter had already used in the past for Julio Cesar and Victor Obinna.

Kerlon struggled to make an impact at the Bentegodi due to injury problems last season, collecting just four appearances. Therefore, the Clivensi have opted not to retain his services for next campaign.

He will probably start pre-season training with Inter but is unlikely to stay put in Milan, probably being loaned out again to earn more experience.

Kerlon suffered a serious knee injury in March 2008, undergoing cruciate ligament surgery, which has severely hampered his progress over the past year.

Stefano Goalkeperino;

Another transfer saga that was interesting to hear about, was the possibility of him moving to Roma, He said time and time again “I would move to Roma in a heartbeat”, but apparently there was no offer, so he later said that he will remain in Verona. Anyway I didn’t emphasize that saga, because it is more or less unimportant.
I am aware he is our starting GK, but still not as important as Sergio.

So, here we go again. A new season, some new players yet here remains the same objective…survival. Even though I do not dedicate much time to this blog, I must say, I am stoked to see that Chievo emblem on theoffside menu for one more season. While we are not champions and we are not playing in Europe, we are still one of the top 20 teams in Italy. This is a process, a process that is not easy. Modern football is dominated by the Benjamin’s and we lack Benjamin’s, OHH how we lack Benjamin’s. Still, one has to admire small clubs like ours. Its where the essence of Italian soccer is seen. Well, enough of the: “we are special” stuff. Lets see that schedule, shall we?

…honestly, I think it is a very fairly good looking (first half of the season) schedule. Well, the 16th to 19th giornata is pretty rough and it can be a pain in the ass for teams fighting relegation but like Di Carlo; I will stress them games when the time comes.

Speaking of Di Carlo, hear is what he had to say about our first match against Juve.

Dessena… ok, im not gonna freak out. I WANT HIM! I WANT HIM! PLEASE CAMPEDELLI, MAKE IT HAPPEN. ok, now im done.

The 22 year old Parma native, Sampdoria midfielder has gained the interest of Chievo and for good reason. He is a young, vibrant and offensive minded midfielder who can cross into the box with the best of them. He would be a great addition to the donkeys. He has a fairly impressive track record:

- 81 games for Parma with a total of 5 goals during 2004-2008(17-21 years old).

- 25 games for Sampdoria in 2008-2009 scoring 2 goals.

- He has been called up 25 times for the Italy U21 squad which saw him score 6 goals.

but of course, talented player + Co ownership – cash = A ball busting transfer.The whole scoop with Dessena is that he is co owned by Parma and Sampdoria. The question is, who’s half will Chievo go for? if there is interest to buy him at all. A loan is possible but highly unlikely. Dessesna is one of Parma’s brightest young prospects and a homegrown one at that, so I don’t see Parma selling their half. It all comes down to negotiations with Samp and looking at their situation (form, depth, etc) To me it looks like they will try to keep him.

The mercato giveth and the mercato taketh away

It is rumored that the Dessena transfer could happen if Bentivoglio was thrown into the equation and I am all for it. Don’t get me wrong, Bentivoglio is a great midfielder and he defends very well but when it comes to Serie A Midfielders my opinion is: Dessena>Bentivoglio. A fair swap and if it could be a half and half contract swap, even better.

It is the final game of the season, duh. So, the question is. What can we expect from this? Seeing as the only matches that matter are:

Roma V Torino: Torino has to fight for survival. Torino needs a win or a draw and Bologna loss no matter what.

Bologna V Catania: Bologna can win or they can draw but only if Torino draws or loses.

Fiorentina V Milan- The battle for 3rd..

Juventus V Lazio- Again, the battle for 3rd.

Whats up!

Well, the boys DO know that no matter what happens, they will play in Serie A next season. UEFA could demand that every league change the points system on the final day. Making a loss count as +4 point and a loss is -1… highly unlikely. Point is, I expect Di Carlo to give the less experienced players a go, just to get an idea of which players are disposable for the summer mercato. The news sources kind agree with me.

The last game

Bad news, we were denied a UEFA license by the High Courts Of Justice Of Sports. I got two words when it comes to that: Screw them!

The boy is making noise… maybe too much noise.

Pellisier has been called up by Lippi. So you would expect some flattering headlines for him. Something like: “Pellissier breaks into the Azzurri” or “The Verona Golden Boy Earns His Shot At The Big Stage”but no. All I am reading is: “Cassano No! Pellisier Si!” or: “Lippi shows hate for Antonio and shows love to Sergio”. No better way to start your international career (at the age of 30) by living in the shadow of the man whore. Cassano.

With great performance comes great interests. Apparently the team we are facing, Napoli are interested in Pellissier. Conflicting statements are coming from Pellissier. One day he says: ” Chievo Is My World” the other day: “Napoli? Who knows”. Hopefully Pellissier and Chievo will reject all offers and he will stay in Verona; however, if he leaves, well it can translate into some extra cash, something we need dearly.

They did it! They survived and avoided being sent down to the fiery depths of hell that is the Serie B. The brawl loss that Torino endured by the hands of Genoa seals the deal for us. A season filled with woes, a season that saw us change managers. It is all over and them boys can hold them heads up high knowing that they will play in the top flight for one more season.
