Uppers and Downers

By: Samson | August 24th, 2008

First, The Bad News.
Chievo were eliminated from the Coppa Italia this week V.S Padova, Tsk Tsk Tsk. I have mixed emotions about the elimination. We must be realistic, Chievo had no chance at winning the Coppa Italia but I at least expected them to get past the 3rd round. Now the donkeys can atleast concentrate on what is really important… staying alive after the season.

I did not see the game; however, I managed to find the goals.

First goal – Padova, Varricchio, 17’
There was nothing GK Squizzi could do about that beauty. Really have to blame the back-line for that dipper.

Second Goal- Chievo, Bentivoglio 58’
What a ball forward huh? Thanks to Er Capitano, Sergio Pellissier

Third Goal (The Dagger) – Padova, Varricchio 76’’. DUDE was on FIRE!
My Lord! This back-line needs to improve.

This is what our tactical leader (manager) Giuseppe Iachini had to say about the surprise lost:

“There was a lot strategy involved in the sense that we offered different occasions but unfortunately we failed to seal those recommendations. Indeed there were some smudges; however, seven days before the start of the championship, it is important to be ready for the challenge against Reggina, they are a cheeky and tricky team that we will face with great determination, and concentration “.

Obinna Transfer

After winning the gold silver medal in Beijing and adding some air to his head; he admits that he wants to stay in the beautiful country that is “Italy”. After TOO MANY romours of him going to one of the big 2 (Inter, Roma) this is what Obinna had to say:

“There are Italian teams that I want to play for and I want to remain in Italy. My trip to Inter? There was an agreement between the society and I and I also made medical visits. I would have liked to play for the nerazzurro, I was ready to go to them but when a team really wants you, they keeps you; they do not send you elsewhere. Was there a problem of money and technical guarantees? Yes.”

Typical Inter, no class.

Could we possibly let this Nigerian go? I dont see why.

New Signings

The Udinese duo have arrived at Chievo on a one year loan deal.

Antonio Langella- Chievo have the option to buy the midfielder at the end of the season. Langella has had a pretty respectful term las season scoring 8 goals in 26 app.

Giampiero Pinzi- Defensive midfielder Pinzi is a different deal… while he is on loan, they have the option to buy half his contract. It is a good snip, he was very poor last season, maybe in gialloblu he will impress.

Pablo Granoche- The Triestina player from Uruguay is ours. The deal seems to be settled after long negotiation. Not sure about the contract but im sure its a buy and not a loan.

REGINNA, BRING IT!!

Special Thanks To Johonna (blogger for inter) for providing me with the tools for good posting.

Not trying to lecture here or anything, but “er” is a Roman thing and so I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be called “er capitano..” he’s an “il capitano” just like everyone else. There’s only one “er capitano.” :)

Chievo must’ve had a windfall or something, ’cause they’ve picked up way more players than I would’ve expected.

This has to be the first time that Padova have made Hellas’ supporters weekend in the post-war era.

Vin, they sure have made a few signings but the backline is ridicoulous and that is the most important element in Serie A.

I hope we do well also. I predict Lecce, Bologna and Genoa will be sent to Serie B.
