Take Us Donkeys Seriously
By: Samson | August 2nd, 2008• Friendlies-
Plenty has been going on competitively since the 1st post and it has been very favorable. Although the Italian media has been criticizing the preparations Chievo have been making for the 2008/2009 season but the results speak for themselves.
Chievo 2-0 Pergocrema- July 27th= A game that I was lucky enough to watch. The flying donkeys looked very impressive in this one with a goal in the 18th by Pellissier and one in the 89th by Cesar. Chievo played a 4-3-3 formation but the midfield proved to be a little sloppy. Pergocrema did not create many chances but the back-line was strong even though they conceded 2 goals.
Chievo 12-0 Veneto Team- July 30th= Not a respected team but I did not catch this stunner unfortunately but it is good to read the results. There seems to be no coverage on this game, I could not find one single report and I have no idea who scored.
Chievo 2-1 Queens Park Rangers- August 2nd= QPR are probably the most competitive team Chievo have faced this pre-season and they where favorites at home against Chievo. A textbook goal was made by Bogdani in the 30th and on the 60th Bentivoglio scored a beauty setup from a corner. A penalty was given to QPR which as converted by Alberti.

I think Lazio will be mid-table again this term, and (no offense to the donkeys), I think Chievo is in for a rough haul. Then again, Napoli were newly promoted last season, and they exceeded expectations, so who knows?

There’s only one team in Verona, and it sure as hell ain’t Chievo. Have fun trying to fit every single one of your 328 fans in the Bentegodi.

Really, you think Lazio will do that well? I think they are in worse trouble than last year – and they were pretty bad then.

HELLAS Verona.

You spelled “perennial bridesmaid” wrong.

Samson, have you read the book by Tim Parks, “A Season with Verona”? If you haven’t, and you’re going to do this blog, then I suggest you probably should. He has some very interesting observations on what’s at stake in the pushing of Chievo as sympathetic underdogs. It may not make you love Hellas Verona any more, but it would give you a different and very interesting perspective.

MAro, thanks i will look into that
I would like to take this time to say that my next post will be on the 31st after the Reginna game.

We’ll take the donkeys seriously when actually take the blog seriously…
Anybody out there a Chievo fan that wants to take this graveyard over?

Just a few days left until the Reginna game. Once Chievo gets back on mainstream media, i will be able to post more informative blogs.
Unlike some people i dont post just anything.
KJ- keep on coming over, your comments dont bother me one bit. Just a larger comment count even if it is negative. If anyone wants to take over the blog, they can contact me but i doubt i will let it go. As long as i dont go 2-3 months without posting im staying.
After the season starts, you will see post almost 2 times a week. Until then KJ go wear some pink.

What about a pre-season review of the team. Who they are and why we should like them?

Johonna, i cant seem to find the results of the last 2 pre-season matches. Maybe you can point me to a good clacio news source. Seriously, although you blog for the enemy, I realy admire your informative blogs.
KJ- Said it once and il say it again. If you wanna be part of a cult go right ahead. It shows that you have no taste in football and that your ignorant. Its all you got huh? the whole Roma or Chievo thing, its getting old and pathetic but keep it up. I am not gonna die for a team, thats what makes a fan and a fanatic seem like 2 very different things. Like i said before, keep on dropping comments hunny bun.
P.S- Nobody ever got ahead by playing follow the leader.

Well, I have a rudimentary knowledge of Italian, which helps, but is not essential. What I do is go to
http://news.google.it/
and, for you, type in “chievo amichevole”
Then, you just check out some likely articles. I use google translate and prefer to cut and paste the text of the article as opposed to using the web page translator.
http://www.google.com/language_toolsHere is what I got about your friendlies using this method:
August 18, 2008
A sprecone Chievo beats LegnanoThe Chievo confirms big growth in testing friendly against Legnano, disputatosi in Desenzano. Iachini’s men won 3-0 wasting a great deal with networks Pellissier to 23 ‘, Marcolini on rigour to 35′ and Mandelli to 50 ‘. Highlights Luciano on the group.
http://www.sportal.it/news/news214323.htmlAlso, the Chievo web site says that they are playing Reggina on Saturday – I think it is a Coppa Italia game. I bet there is all sorts of info about that on the web.
Google language tools are your friend.Posted from

Nope, Chievo play Padova first in the Coppa Italia. The game must be a friendly. And it is Bari, not Reggina.
Total brain fart there.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coppa_Italia_2008-09

Also, La Gazzetta is always a good place to start.

Samson – if you have any problems finding detailed information, please feel free to contact me and I can assist you. The same goes with translations as it is a pleasure to help. Chievo is an interesting veteran squad that you’ll enjoy watching from a tactical perspective as they face more talented squads.
