Don't get me wrong, Mostafa, you won't see me saying that Italiano wasn't good :) Dude got us 5 extra points BY HIMSELF with those late goals in both games against Reggina and at Torino. It's just that he's wanted out since March and we already knew he was dissatisfied... nothing short of firing Di Carlo and bringing back Iachini would have convinced him to stay.

Happy to contribute, and thrilled to find a place for my fellow Chievo fans!

Chievo's summer market was much like the rest of them, quiet and waiting for good deals, as Mostafa said above. I was sad to see Italiano go to Padova. He's a great player and was critical during our rise back to Seria A. I'm still not sure why we let him go. And last year we let Cesar go to Padova, too. What is the deal? What have we gotten in return for having given them two excellent players? Weird.

I hope we keep Bentivoglio. He has a 5-yr contract and Di Carlo better utilize him. He's top class and has been demonstrating great form in this pre-season. PLEASE don't give him away.

This pre-season was pretty good. Adequate challenges against decent teams, and not one loss. Bodes well for 2009. Usually Chievo has pre-seasons that don't offer challenges - aside from an annual visit to the UK, they prepare with Serie C (or lower) teams - Lumezzane and other such crap teams... I'll never forget their preparations in 2005 for the Champions League prelims against Levski, I think they played against San Zeno. Please! Someone explain that strategy...

I'm optimistic for this season and look forward to seeing the games on justin.tv or other live steaming sites.

Also enjoy reading the comments above. It's good to see a unique team like Chievo has fans in the US.

Moving on, I think that there is no way our team can get any half decent players, since our team position doesn't allow us to have the $ to spend like the big boys on Serie A.

As long as this team retains most of the players from last year, I will be happy. They just need to play together and get experience playing together. From that, wins will come.

As far as Kerlon is concerned, I am not shocked that he didn't pan out with our team.

Forza Pelliser :D

Well italiano was good actually, and i while i agree that the Co-Ownership deals are delicate but still mind you, we only just survived last year. We had a real good second half of the season, and that is good omen, but can we continue our streak?

Anyway thanks for your review, and keep visiting..

Can't say I agree that we haven't done much...

*Ariatti and Granoche add some real versatility.

*Holding onto Frey & Rigoni (delicate co-ownership deals), renewing the contracts of Yepes & Marcolini, and reacquiring Pinzi were all incredibly important.

*For a club our size to have such a remarkable ritorno round and not lose a single starter from the bunch (particularly from the defense) is remarkable. As far as notable contributors, only Italiano and Colucci left.

We've got a solid team that (unlike last year) will start already knowing their strengths and abilities. I'm really excited!
