Chievo V Lazio. Recap and Highlights.
By: Samson | October 29th, 2008It sucks to lose but it sucks even more when you lose by an own goal.
First off, what a SWEET goal by Pellissier; positioning, contact and precision. It was a tough angle but he made Carizzo his bitch. Too bad Chievo could not get that 1 point. Could have been a different story if Pellissier would have scored off that great cross from (RB) Malagò. Pellissier was pissed off, if you watch closely, he kicked the crap out of the right goal post.
Score Sheet
Lazio
14′ Pandev
82′ (Own goal) Mantova
Chievo
11′ Pellissier
Bookings
Lazio
86′ Radu
89′ De Silvestri
Chievo
36′ Bogdani
46′ Luciano
47′ Patrascu

My thoughts
Ok, first thing that pisses me off was Pellissier miss. It could have changed the whole outcome of the game. No doubts that Pellissier is special. I consider him a valuable asset; however, the loss of Obinna hurts and the pain is rvident out on the pitch.
From watching the highlights, you can tell that Lazio were not excactly dominant in this game (home field advantage does not exist for Chievo). I think that we gave them a good fight. I said from the highlights, I did not watch the game, as a matter of fact I did not get to see one game today.
Mantova’s own goal. You can blame him… well…to me, it kind of almost sorta maybe looked FUCKING INTENTIONAL. He simply just broke under pressure, lost his head and went with his STUPID but i mean VERY STUPID instinct.
Iachini:
“I can not just recover and not win since the first day. I can not blame anything on the boys. We were particularly unlucky. We deserved the draw and instead we went for a K.O blow and ended up with an own goal. We just have to continue to push and pedal to react. We have no other choice
I can imagine him in his bedroom, crying his eyes out eating Häagen-Dazs® watching this over and over and over and over…
Seriously, I would not be suprised if Mantova lost his head so badly, badly to the extent that he actualy thought he was in scoring position of Lazio’s goal. HAHA
Kerlon
Ok, his long awaited debut has been postponed once again. This time, he was not even on the bench. Im sorry but I would play Kerlon up front due to his size, so he must be challenging for the spot of Esposito (should not be that hard).
Oh well, next match we will get them, wait… WTF next giornata is Palermo… DAMN!
Put in 5 defenders Iachini.

You luck to even be in the game.
I dont know why Obinna went to Inter for limited playing time shoulda stayed at Chievo and got all the playing time he wants.

Ohhhhhhhhh Man! What luck uh? A Montava own goal in the 82nd minute really hurts………
First, it looks as if Chievo played better than expected, and I would not be surprised if in fact, they did play better than Lazy-o! I will have to read up on it tomorrow to see what the reports are saying.
NICE job by Pelliser! Intense plays, and Samson, if he would have made that header……..

Samson, I don’t think Palermo is a big worry. Them, you know what, did poorly against Lecce didn’t they? I would suggest they’re not a big threat to Chievo, let alone all other Serie A teams. Good, average, but no big threat.

Mostafa, as of last night, i didn’t get your email. Maybe if you could send it, or resend it.
I have classes most of the day, so we’ll chat later.

Thanks Mostafa and Lorenzo. It sucks that; what is considered my best post, had to be on a shitty loss but hey! thats calcio.
Lorenzo, wanna give you a special thanks for not being a dick like the others. Classy, good stuff.

Well Giro, Obinna is a prooven striker and if you ask me, he deserves to be in a bigger club. He can fight for the postition.
What pisses me off is that Inter wanted to send him on a loan deal to Everton right after the deal with Chievo was made. I know it would most likely help his development but to buy a player that has his hopes set on playing in CL, to just send him to the EPL is wrong.
The only reason that Inter did not ship the Nigerian to Everton was because the documents were not in order in time for the transfer close. If Inter would have signed him earlier, he would not even be touching italian soil right now.

Kerlon reminds me of Ederson, a guy who via YouTube becomes superfamous, but there’s not too much substance (as of now) behind him.

Alessio, give the boy a chance to at least touch the pitch before you dub him a youtube star. The kid has not even played since he arrived.
Who knows? maybe one day he will make Chiellini his bitch.

Samson, no need to try to convince alessio. This is what I’ve learned from him though his posts since I started reading them: He knows it all and nothing applies but his thoughts, likes and dislikes. Its a wasted effort.
Would you disagree with me Samson? Because, if you do, I would love to have an argument with you when I come back tonight.

My point was his hype is based on a lotta youtube clips (primarily for his seal dribble, which is cool), and not much else. I’m not writing him off, rather I’m encouraging you not too overhype him. Google him, and he’s compared to Ronaldinho and all the Brazilian greats. The kid is a striker and has scored 1 goal in 3 seasons with Cruzeiro.

Alessio has a point. I know exactly what he’s talking about because most of the guys who are heralded as the “next sensation” come via the form of youtube compilations. I mean, if you were to base everything you saw off of those, you could make a guy like Caracciolo look amazing…even Guana! (ok, definitely not Guana…)

What pisses me off is that Inter wanted to send him on a loan deal to Everton right after the deal with Chievo was made.
Actually, Obinna was all for the loan. He knew that he would get a whole lot more play time in England than at Inter, and he would grow as a player. He was disappointed when the deal fell through. I am sure that he knew about the loan before he signed for Inter.
Besides, he is not on Inter’s Champions League squad list now. At Everton he had a shot at UEFA cup play.

Actually, a piece of him, so to speak was always ours. We paid the bill for him to come to Chievo in the first place for part of his card or first refusal rights.
All we did this season was to buy him completely from Chievo… a right we had since that was part of the deal from the very beginning.

So there you go. No harm, no foul.

ale is dead on in this particular case. Kerlon is even thought of as a YouTube phenomenon in Brazil.
While Samson is right to say that we shouldn’t write him off completely until he’s played a bit in Europe, I would not be at all surprised if he ends up having even less of an impact than Ederson (who I saw a couple of times at Nice, and consider to be a decent player with a very suspect attitude).
